Finding information about countries and international organizations (1)

 The statesman's yearbook

This site has a fantastic amount  of information on every country in the world, as well as on international organizations. It has the potential to be a very good source of information for students doing projects and makes a welcome change from Wikipedia.

If you want to know the name of the current Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Kyrgyzstan (Turdunazir Bekboev) or the number of submarines in the Chinese navy (71 – three strategic and 68 tactical), this site will tell you.

The archives, which are online, go back to 1864, when the First Lord of the Treasury (i.e. British prime minister) was Viscount Palmerston.
