Make word clouds

Word clouds from text and websites



Word clouds work by highlighting the most commonly featured words in a text. Tagxedo can turns words,  famous speeches, news articles, slogans and so on into word clouds. The user can also edit the word list to remove commonly occuring words such as articles.
 
Tagxedo allows users to create word clouds in a number of different ways. Users can;



  • make clouds by copying and pasting text
  • make clouds from web pages by copying and pasting the URL
  • post clouds directly to facebook and Twitter
  • choose from different fonts
  • choose from different colour schemes
  • choose different shapes

 Tagxedo is similar to Wordle but has some more advanced features.

For teachers word clouds can be used in the clasroom in different ways.  For example, the text from a reading or listening can be pasted in Tagxedo and a word cloud produced. Students can then predict the content of the text from the words in the cloud. It can also be used as a revision tool to help learners remember new words.
