Ted.com is a truly wondeful resource for students wishing to improve their listening to academic lectures. The site has thousands of videos by well-known speakers in their field talking about a host of topics. Users can search by talks, speakers, themes or translations.
The videos have an interactive tapescript - click on the text and the video will jump to this part of the talk. Some of the videos have written translations in a number of different languages. It is also possible to embed the videos into your web site or blog.
An excellent resource that you might use with your students to improve their listening, keep up with current issues or brush up your own English!
This blog is for anyone interested in the possibilities that new technologies can offer (English) language teachers. I hope the web sites and tools on the Blog will be of use for teachers who want to help their learners. I have used them all at some time. The web sites and tools are easy to use for the most part and do not require the user to be a technical wizard. They are also FREE.
