6 minute English

6 minute English from the BBC Learning English site has lots of listenings about current events. Students can listen to the recording and also use the tapescript to help them to understand.  Difficult vocabulary is listed at the bottom of the exercise with a simple explanation of the word. There is also a multiple choice question for students to answer. The correct answer is given at the end of the recoding.

The archive of recordings goes back to 2008.  There are hundreds of recordings to listen to.

6 minute English can be used online or the audio can be downloaded and saved. A pdf version of the tapescript is also available.

Users can also subscribe to 6 minute English as a podcast if they wish.

In short, a wonderful listening resource.
